There's really no way to sugar coat the meaning behind this song. I fell in love with a boy. He gave his heart to someone else. It took me a long time to accept that, because the truth hurts, and I wasn't prepared to face it. I started to write a letter to her, one that I would never send. This song is what came out instead. It's without a doubt the most honest song I've ever written. Pure emotion on a platter, so to speak. This is the very bottom of my soul laid out on the table for ya'll. All I ever wanted was for him to be happy... and I hope he's found that.
